Does Palmer charge sales tax?
Palmer Leasing does not charge its clients sales tax on trailer leases, under Missouri sales tax laws, trailer leasing companies have the option of :
Palmer Leasing, Inc. utilizes option A. Under option B, the sales tax liability continues for as long as the trailer is rented/leased and must be collected and paid on each rental/lease charge. In most cases, mileage charges are also taxed.
Most of our competitors have chosen to license their trailers outside of Missouri. As a result, option A. above is not available to them, and under most circumstances they must by law charge your company a sales tax on rental/leases. When you lease from Palmer Leasing, you do not pay the sales tax because we chose to pay the sales tax when the trailer was purchased and not pass the tax on to our clients.
